Windows
Stable 1.20.4 builds hosted on ppsspp.org. Installer, portable ZIP, and ARM64 builds use the same emulator core.
- Portable ZIP keeps files next to the executable; useful on locked-down PCs.
- Default memstick:
Documents/PPSSPP/memstick.
- 1.20.4 no longer requires
mfplat.dll unless you use camera or microphone.
- If Vulkan fails, switch to Direct3D 11 or OpenGL.
Android
Direct APK from ppsspp.org, or install through a store if you prefer automatic updates.
- Supported floor is Android 5.0 and newer as of the 1.20 line.
- On Android 11+, create a
PSP folder at storage root when asked, then tap Use this folder.
- Put disc images in
PSP/ISO inside that folder.
iOS
Most users install from the App Store. Advanced users can sideload the IPA from GitHub releases.
- Start around 2× to 3× PSP resolution on recent chips.
- Gold on iOS is an in-app purchase; the separate Gold app was retired.
Linux
AppImage runs on most distros without installing. Flatpak integrates with your desktop store.
macOS
Open the DMG and drag the app to Applications. Gatekeeper may require a right-click then Open on first launch. Updating in place does not wipe saves.
VR
VR build is an APK for compatible Android VR headsets (Quest, Pico, and similar). PC VR is not currently supported. Start at 1× to 2× internal resolution.
Stable vs development
Use 1.20.4 for daily play. Development builds pick up fixes sooner and can break save states. Always back up SAVEDATA before switching channels. Changelog: 1.20.4 notes.
After install
PPSSPP does not include games. Follow the setup guide to point it at ISO, CSO, or CHD files you own.
